Creating an outstanding banking experience begins with a strong team, and we at SouthEast Bank pride ourselves on making every experience with us a personal one. That’s why we care about introducing you to the special team members you’ll see in our branches every day, like Donovan Stapp.
Donovan was born and raised in Lenoir City, Tennessee, just a few miles away from his current post leading the SouthEast Bank team in Hardin Valley. He has always been motivated by helping people and began cultivating customer service and leadership skills from his very first job at Burger King. “It taught me a lot about how to work with different personalities in a business setting,” says Donovan.
After eight years in the banking industry, Donovan joined us at SouthEast Bank in 2022 and since then he – and the annual events he’s hosted – have become a local favorite of our customers. Despite the bad weather last year, Donovan says the 2024 Trunk or Treat remains a favorite memory.
“It started storming, so we took the event inside and had vendors, a DJ, plus SouthEast Bank staff lined around the lobby handing out candy. It was great!”
Donovan doesn’t let a little rain get in his way and finds a way to see the bright side for his team and customers when going through the day-to-day of leading his branch.
“Finances have a huge impact on peoples’ lives,” he says. “I love having the ability to help people in an area that impacts so many others.”
Donovan is especially passionate about empowering local businesses to help them achieve their goals.
“Businesses are a huge part of what makes East Tennessee so special. We have so many small and medium-sized business owners in this area. SouthEast Bank provides that private banking experience to everyone, which shows our clients that they are valued and we see them as our neighbor and not just a number.”
When asked what he’s most proud of, he points to his team and his family.
“Our team has grown and learned so much in the last year. It has allowed for us to increase outreach, help more clients, and grow our community.”
Together with girlfriend Anie, Donovan has two boys, Barret aged 7 and Abel aged 10. “I strive to be the best influence possible for my kids. Whether that’s in work ethic, or just how to treat people. They’re always watching.”
It’s hard not for his family to stay busy, between the kids’ schedules and caring for their Labradoodle and Sphynx cat. On their days off together, however, they enjoy spending time outside in the backyard and exploring all that the area has to offer.
“We love the pastries from the Belgian Sweets Co., down in Loudon,” says Donovan, “and Van Edoms Wine Bar when we have time for an evening out.”
If you’re a regular at the Knoxville Zoo or you enjoy watching The Masked Singer with your loved ones – or if you’re simply curious about what SouthEast Bank has to offer – we know you and Donovan will enjoy connecting. Be sure to introduce yourself next time you’re visiting our Hardin Valley branch!
