Good to Know: Julie Ashburn, Cookeville-Willow Ave. Branch Supervisor

Creating an outstanding banking experience begins with a strong team, and we at SouthEast Bank pride ourselves on making every experience with us a personal one. That’s why we care about introducing you to the special team members who you’ll see in our branches every day, like Julie Ashburn.

Julie is the newest member to join our team of SouthEast Bank branch supervisors; however, her career with us stretches back nearly 16 years. In that time, she’s assisted Cookeville-area customers in a variety of roles, from drive-through teller to customer service representative to lending assistant. Now, she leads the team at the Willow Avenue branch of SouthEast Bank in Cookeville, where she’s lived, learned, and worked her whole life.

“I have deep roots in the area,” says Julie, graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter and Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. As such, she takes every opportunity to give back, including a particular favorite event: Cooking on the Square. “It is a remarkable day of the community coming together to support the Putnam County Habitat for Humanity,” she says. “The atmosphere, the music, and of course the food is so fun!”

Julie currently lives in downtown Cookeville with her ten-year-old Yorkie, Graham, whom she adopted through local pet adoption group AARF when he was just two. “He is absolutely adorable, but he is such a grumpy old man in dog form!” says Julie. In addition to her role as dog mom, she’s a devoted aunt who enjoys “spoiling my nieces and nephew as much as I can,” including taking them to Cream City for a frozen treat. She also enjoys shopping The Market on the Square and Plenty Bookshop as a personal treat.

When she’s not assisting customers at our Willow Avenue location or frequenting local businesses with her loved one, she’s traveling to destinations near and far, particularly those with great music venues or Christmas attractions. “Yes, I drove to Michigan just to go to Bronner’s Christmas store, the largest in the US!” she shares. “I also enjoy going to the Cumberland County Playhouse to watch their productions.”

Julie’s infectious charm and commitment to excellent service have made her an invaluable team member for many years, and we look forward to many more with her at the helm of our Cookeville branch on Willow. Be sure to introduce yourself the next time you stop by – and don’t be surprised if you see a few holiday decorations up early!
