SouthEast Bank and State Representative Jason Zachary host financial literacy summer course at local branch.

Farragut, TENNESSEE – July 29th – Friday, SouthEast Bank and local leader, State Representative Jason Zachary hosted 11 middle and high school students as they participated in the SouthEast Bank Financial Scholars programs, a web-based financial education course designed to provide students with the critical skills needed to make sound financial decisions. SouthEast Bank has partnered with leading education technology company EverFi, Inc., to bring this interactive, digital financial education program to over 50 schools across East Tennessee. Since the program’s inception in 2013, the program has reached over 10,000 students. SouthEast Bank collaborated with Rep. Jason Zachary to bring this program to students during the summertime.

Students gathered at the Farragut Branch of SouthEast Bank to learn the basics of budgeting, balancing a checking account, online banking and other money management skills and received certificates today for their outstanding work. The event included remarks from SouthEast Bank President, Monty Montgomery, and Rep. Jason Zachary.

“These students are our future consumers and the future leaders of our nation. The more we can do to help them grow and prosper, the more our country will benefit — and the more the financial services industry will benefit,” said Monty Montgomery.

SouthEast Bank has partnered with EverFi, Inc. to bring the SouthEast Bank Financial Scholars programs to local students at no cost to the schools or the taxpayer. The web-based programs use the latest in new media technology to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. These programs cover topics ranging from savings and budgeting to investments and student loans. In 2015, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) highlighted EverFi’s schools-based financial education programs in a new report on Advancing K-12 Financial Education: A Guide for Policymakers

“Our goal as local leaders is for all Tennessee citizens to be fiscally responsible and economically self-reliant. SouthEast Bank’s program is helping students gain the critical skills necessary to make them successful for the rest of their lives,” said Rep. Jason Zachary.
