SouthEast Bank Supports Development Project at the University of Tennessee Research Park

SouthEast Bank helps fund a 25.5-million-dollar real estate development project in partnership with Three Roots Capital and the University of Tennessee Research Park (UTRP).

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. June 22, 2023 – The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, celebrated the groundbreaking of the University of Tennessee Research Park (UTRP) Innovation South building on the Cherokee Farm campus, a multi-million-dollar project made real with the assistance of SouthEast Bank. The ceremony highlights a monumental collaboration between developers, researchers, and financing institutions like Three Roots Capital and SouthEast Bank.

The ambitious developmental site seeks to use the momentum and creativity of UTRP to bring even more new opportunities to Knoxville. Three Roots Capital knows what a prosperous city Knoxville is; this new site seeks to draw new capital and businesses that can grow in this community.

Three Roots Capital and UTRP’s vision to enrich East Tennessee attracted SouthEast Bank to the exciting project. The Innovation South project, developed and owned by Partners Development, is centered around giving back to the area and growing the community. Once completed, the Innovation South building will help to educate future generations of talented workers, offer state-of-the-art research opportunities for UT and outside individuals, and contribute advanced technology to East Tennessee’s most critical business sectors.

The UTRP sits across the Tennessee River on its expansive Cherokee Farm campus that supports UTRP’s work. A cornerstone for students and professionals, UTRP invites companies and businesses to connect with UT’s brightest to reshape research and partner to reach new horizons together. The campus provides those engaged on it pathways to success with enterprising connections.

The Innovation South building will become a part of UTRP’s Spark Innovation Center, which focuses on entrepreneurship development and commercialization of regional technology-based startup companies. In financing this project, SouthEast Bank contributes to UTRP’s continued boost to the local economy.

SouthEast Bank’s commitment to encouraging growth, promoting innovation, and staying involved has led to the bank’s dedicated backing of the Innovation South Project. SouthEast Bank has helped support the Innovation South project for three years, with Chief Credit Officer Jimmy Dalton having worked closely with Three Roots Capital to ensure the success of this community-oriented initiative.

“Complicated projects like these require lots of care and yield great benefits for the surrounding area — both public and private. Our partnership with Three Roots Capital is a source of pride,” says Dalton. “The financial collaboration between our bank and Three Roots Capital will encourage lasting growth in the Knoxville area that we’re excited to be a part of.”

Positive impact, Dalton adds, is the goal of SouthEast Bank’s extensive community engagement. The bank proudly serves the Knoxville area alongside Three Roots Capital in this fruitful partnership. Introducing the Innovation South building at UTRP will create more bridges between the University, the public, and private persons.

SouthEast Bank welcomes this new addition to UTRP as an example of how passionate community banking leads to innovation and growth. The bank continues to encourage the Innovation South project and seeks to support even more enriching programs like it.
