With the help of a recent contribution from SouthEast Bank, Knoxville Area Urban League’s financial literacy initiative continues to nurture a secure financial future for the community.

Knoxville, Tenn. (Dec. 13, 2023) – SouthEast Bank recently donated $44,000 to bolster the comprehensive financial literacy initiative of the Knoxville Area Urban League (KAUL), further strengthening the bank’s commitment to community development. This contribution represents a significant step in the ongoing partnership between SouthEast Bank and KAUL, demonstrating a shared dedication to fostering financial education and economic empowerment within the Knoxville community.

Michelle Clayton, Ed.S, KAUL’s Vice President of Development & Strategic Partnerships, expressed her gratitude, stating, “The Knoxville Area Urban League extends its heartfelt appreciation to SouthEast Bank for its generous donation of $44,000 to support our comprehensive financial literacy initiative. With a shared commitment to empowering our community, SouthEast Bank’s support will be pivotal in advancing our mission and achieving key objectives within our Education and Youth, Housing, and Economic Development Programs.”

Kirby Burton, Community Reinvestment Act Officer at SouthEast Bank, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting the Knoxville community, saying, “Our partnership with the Knoxville Area Urban League reflects our dedication to making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and families in Knoxville. The financial contribution from SouthEast Bank will enhance KAUL’s existing financial literacy programs by focusing on age-appropriate modules tailored to students within the Education and Youth Program. These initiatives aim to instill financial knowledge and behaviors from a young age, providing a foundation for future financial success.

The funds will also support the Housing Development Program, providing affordable housing units for low-income families and offering crucial homeownership education. Additionally, the Economic Development Program supports budding entrepreneurs, providing job training and networking events.
