Important Information

Security Notice: June 4, 2025

SouthEast Bank has logged several reports of individuals receiving fraudulent text messages from a sender falsely claiming to be SouthEast Bank. This was a blanket scam to large groups in certain area codes and is NOT specific to SouthEast Bank customers. An example of one of these messages is shown in the image below.

Within the message, the scammer states that the recipient has had an unusual charge posted to their account and that their account is on hold. If you receive this message (or one similar), please ignore it, as it is not a legitimate communication from SouthEast Bank. Please follow the guidelines below to stay protected.

Be wary of requests for personal information

When you choose to be a customer of SouthEast Bank, we may contact you by phone, text, or email, depending on your preferences. However, we will never initiate a conversation by asking for personal information such as your account number, pin, or password.

If you are unsure of the source of anyone claiming to represent SouthEast Bank, please contact 1-844-SEBANKS (732-2657). The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can help protect you and other customers from potential scams.

Be cautious of answering phone calls or texts from numbers you don’t know

Scammers may send you “urgent” messages by phone to gain your information. They may call and say they are from our fraud department or send you a text claiming that your account is at risk or has been frozen.

Do not reply to or engage with these messengers or click any links texted to you. Instead, contact a trusted representative of our financial institution by using the phone number on the card associated with your account or by calling 1-844-SEBANKS (732-2657).

Review emails and text messages carefully to ensure they are from a trusted sender

Similarly, common email scams relay misinformation about your account, stating that there is a problem with your account or that you need to verify recent activity. These emails may use urgent or threatening language and will often include an attachment or a link to a fake website.

You can often spot these scams by taking a close look at the email address of the sender, which may be unofficial, include spelling errors, or otherwise appear strange. The links they provide may look real but pay attention to the URL to confirm legitimacy. For instance, “yourbank-login.weebly.com” is not the same as “yourbank.com.” If you are unsure whether you’re logging into the right place, visit our homepage and navigate from there.
